Apply for a Byrdie’s Class Fellowship

Update for our community members!
3/12/26

After lots of thought, a survey, and thorough board discussion, we have decided to expand our fellowship program to include 3 BIPOC Fellowships Registration spots per class at a 30% discount, rather than 2 at a 50% discount. The majority of our Fellowship spots fill so quickly, that many eligible folks have not been able to access the class offerings. We acknowledge that this change may impact the financial accessibility of our classes to some, and our hope is that by offering more opportunities at a discounted rate, we can increase accessibility overall.

This program is primarily funded by our own revenue, with the assistance of an occasional grant and community donations. We hope to be able to expand Fellowships further and offer more financial assistance in the future! Please reach out if you have any ideas on how to increase funding for this program.

WHO IS THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR?

BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), this includes people of African, Native American, Latin, Pacific Island, Middle Eastern, and Asian descent

WHY ARE WE OFFERING THIS?

Byrdie’s Pottery is a community of people whose mission is to welcome anybody who is interested in the ceramic arts, from those with a budding interest to folks highly experienced with clay. We recognize that pottery studios are predominantly run and accessed by white people, and we are committed to dismantling that reality by creating and holding space for BIPOC. We hold two spaces open in every class specifically for BIPOC, so that access can be reserved for folks who previously may not have seen themselves taking a class and/or have been historically disenfranchised.
