Black Pottery Night

February 8th, 2025
6PM - 9PM

In celebration of Black History Month, come try your hand at pottery among local Black potters and students. All skill levels are welcome! 

Choose from two offerings:

3-Hour Wheel Throwing “Try-It” Class
Learn the foundations of wheel throwing in this 3-hour class with instructor Maisha Joshua. Registration required here, limited spaces available.

Play With Clay
Join other Black Pottery Night attendees in trying your hand at sculpting and handbuilding with Byrdie’s member and board member Alyx.
No registration required, unlimited spaces. More information here.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

 

Byrdie’s is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community ceramics studio in New Orleans.

Located in the Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans since 2010, Byrdie’s is a place for the community to explore clay arts. We offer classes, membership, and a storefront shop for members to sell their pottery.



Classes

We offer a variety of classes - from single “try it” sessions to 8-week offerings, there is be something for just about everyone.

Membership

Studio membership is for folks with experience in ceramics and offers unlimited access to the studio, equipment, and glazes.

Our community is a vibrant one with members ranging from hobbyists to working artists and everything in between.


Shop

Our storefront shop features work made in the studio by members. From wheelthrown mugs to hand-coiled sculptural work - you’ll find a spectrum of clay expression here.

We’re open Fridays 3-6, Saturdays 12-6, and Sundays 12-6, stop by!

A percentage of our shop revenue this quarter (October, November, December) will be donated to Jane Place New Orleans.
