PRIVATE CLASSES

We can usually accommodate private classes with at least a 2-week heads up. Most available days are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Private classes can be either wheelthrowing or handbuilding, and we can host up to 8 people per class. If you are interested in doing the ceramic process from start to finish, including glazing, we recommend signing up for at least 2 or 3 private classes.

Pricing:
Base rate for 1.5 hours: $100 (includes 1 person)
Each additional person: +$50
(example: 3 person private class = $200)

Wheelthrowing or Handbuilding: Wheelthrowing is making pottery at the rotating wheel (yes, like Ghost). Wheelthrowing can be quite challenging, but most folks are able to make soooome sort of vessel during a 1.5 hour class. Handbuilding is making pottery at the work table using techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab-building. Handbuilding is great for engaging creativity, and is much more accessible for all skill levels and physical abilities. Please let us know with your booking inquiry if your group would prefer to do Wheelthrowing or Handbuilding.

Having Your Work Finished:
Unless you are signing up for multiple classes and completing the ceramic process from start to finish, you can choose to pay your teacher directly $10/piece for each item you would like finished, glaze, and fired in our kilns. For example, if you throw 3 things on the wheel that you want your teacher to complete for you, you would pay them $30 at the end of your class, unless you have coordinated follow up classes to complete the work yourself. They would then finish, glaze, and fire those 3 pieces which would be ready for pickup about 1 month later.

Interested? Email us through the contact page with the size of your group, whether you’d like to do wheelthrowing or handbuilding, and proposed dates/times of your class(es), with at least 2 weeks notice. We will then check on teacher availability and get back to you!

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations prior to 5 days before class start will receive a refund minus a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations within 5 days before class start will receive a 50% refund. There are no refunds within 24 hours of class. This all applies to each person in your class (for example, if one person drops out of your 6-person class 3 days before, we will refund 50% of 1/6th of the total amount paid.)

FAQ:
Q: How does the booking process work?
A: Reach out to us on the contact page with the details of your booking inquiry. We will look at the calendar and check in with our teachers about their availability, then get back to you with confirmation of possible dates/times based on your proposal. Once you confirm, we will send you an invoice via email.

Q: Can we bring food/drinks?
A: You are welcome to bring snacks & non-alcoholic beverages, to be consumed within the 1.5 hour class session. Just know that the time flies, so any eating/drinking should be quick nibbles and BYO cups/plates/utensils!

Q: What should we wear?
A: Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Clay will wash out, and you are welcome to wear a communal apron, but you will get a little muddy! If you are doing wheelthrowing, we also recommend wearing bottoms that you can wear with your body sitting in a wide-legged position.

Q: What else should I know?
1. It can be challenging to wheelthrow with long nails, so we recommend trimming them beforehand, or knowing in advance that we may need to find modifications for the throwing process if you have long nails.
2. Go into this class with the goal of enjoying the process! If you’ve never done ceramics before, be patient with yourself. It takes time to learn new skills!
3. The last ~20 minutes of class will be dedicated to cleaning up.
