In celebration of Black History Month, come try your hand at pottery among local Black potters and students. All skill levels are welcome!  In this 3-hours wheel throwing class, you will learn the foundations of wheel throwing.  All clay, tools, and equipment included.  Your instructor will fire and glaze one piece per student in any single glaze color of your choice.  Should you be interested in having any additional pieces glazed and fired, the cost is $5 per additional piece.

This class is designed to create a welcoming learning environment for Black-identified folks.  Registration is required to participate in the wheel throwing class, however you are welcome to join others Black Pottery Night attendees in trying your hand at sculpting and handbuilding as well.  The same cost to glaze and fire any additional piece you make applies.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Work will be ready for pickup roughly 4 weeks after class. Any work that hasn’t been claimed within 4 weeks of notice that it is ready for pickup will be considered donated to Byrdie’s.

This class will only run if at least 6 people are enrolled.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations prior to 5 days before class start will receive a refund minus a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations within 5 days before class start will receive a 50% refund. There are no refunds within 24 hours of class.

BIPOC Fellowship Registration:
This class is intended for Black-identified people.  Accordingly, all spots will be registered through the BIPOC Fellowship.  If this class fills up before you are able to register, we encourage you to keep an eye out for our future classes where additional BIPOC Fellowships will be offered.  We typically reserve 2 spots in each class for BIPOC Fellowship registration - for folks who identify as Black, Indigenous, &/or a Person of Color.  You can learn more about our BIPOC Fellowships at https://www.byrdiespottery.org/fellowship
