Throwing Big: This intermediate-level class is specially designed for students who are comfortable throwing on the wheel and are now interested in the challenge of throwing big. Throughout this 4 session workshop, you'll learn specialized techniques and strategies to successfully work with larger amounts of clay. Pheebs will demonstrate how to handle the additional weight and maintain control while creating sizable forms. The primary goal of this workshop is to help you double the amount of clay you normally use, enabling you to confidently tackle larger projects.

Please note, this class includes throwing the first weekend & trimming the second weekend. We will bisque the work for you to glaze on your own. If you don't have access to glazing/firing let us know and we can coordinate a special glazing session for an additional fee. It may take up to 1 month for work to be through the bisque kiln, due to the size and longer drying time required of larger items.

The price of this class includes one 25lb bag of clay. Students may purchase additional clay, in 25lb bags, which range between $22-36/bag.

Pieces will be ready to pick up within 4 weeks of final class. The instructor will email you when work is ready for pickup, and student Pieces MUST be picked up within four weeks of the instructor’s email. Unclaimed pieces will be considered “donated” to the Byrdie’s!

WE DO NOT OFFER MAKEUP CLASSES, except for special circumstances. Please only sign up for this class if you can attend all of the dates in the session. If you must miss a class due to sickness, you may ask the teacher if they can schedule a 1.5-hour private makeup class, in which case you would pay the teacher $45 directly. We do not offer makeup classes due to your scheduling conflicts.

Current Covid Policy:
If someone in class tests positive, they must notify their teacher. We will then take appropriate action based on the current best practices to prevent the spread of COVID19. As of the date of this posting, if a student tests positive and the rest of the class has been exposed, then the positive student must follow current CDC guidelines and the rest of the students must have proof of a negative test result before returning to class.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations prior to 5 days before class start will receive a refund minus a 10% cancellation fee. Cancellations within 5 days before class start will receive a 50% refund. There are no refunds within 24 hours of class.

BIPOC Fellowship Registration:
We reserve 2 spots in each class for BIPOC Fellowship registration - this registration is for folks who identify as Black, Indigenous, &/or a Person of Color. If you are BIPOC and the 2 Fellowship spots are already full, you are welcome to sign up at the general registration rate.
